Bathroom renovators servicing Smithfield
Smithfield is the gateway to the Northern Beaches, with James Cook University, the shopping centre and a big mix of family homes, townhouses and student rentals. It's grown in waves since the 1980s, so bathrooms here range from original 80s and 90s fit-outs to newer estate homes that are just starting to need a refresh.
We renovate bathrooms across Smithfield, Smithfield Heights and neighbouring Trinity Park and Yorkeys Knob. John Bourjon coordinates every trade — plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tiling, joinery and glazing — so you only deal with one person.
Smithfield's housing and typical bathroom issues
In the older parts of Smithfield you'll find brick and block low-set homes from the 1980s and 1990s, often with their original bathrooms. Common problems include drummy floor tiles, failed shower waterproofing showing up as stains or lifting flooring outside the bathroom door, and small vanities with little storage.
The newer estates in Smithfield Heights and toward Trinity Park have more modern bathrooms, but builder-grade fittings and exhaust fans that don't vent outside often lead to mould within a few years. Many owners here want to upgrade to frameless glass, bigger showers and better storage. Investors with rental properties near JCU are usually after durable, easy-clean finishes that keep maintenance down between tenancies.

- Laundry renovations with new cabinetry and better ventilation

Bathroom renovation FAQs — Smithfield
Do you renovate rental bathrooms in Smithfield?
Yes. We regularly renovate investment properties near JCU and the shopping centre. We recommend durable porcelain tiles, quality mixer tapware and easy-clean surfaces, and we can coordinate with your property manager to minimise vacancy time.
My Smithfield shower is leaking — do I need a full renovation?
Usually, if the waterproofing membrane under the tiles has failed, the only lasting fix is to strip the shower back and re-waterproof to AS 3740. Re-grouting or sealing over the top rarely solves it long-term. We'll inspect and give you honest options.
How much does a bathroom renovation cost in Smithfield?
Our bathroom renovations start from $25,000. Most Smithfield bathrooms fall between $25,000 and $50,000 depending on size and finishes. See the full bathroom renovation cost guide for Cairns.
